Digital Photography – Tips from the Pros
Dr. Sinno, professor emeritus of communications at Clarke University, and Rafic Sinno of the University of Dubuque discuss the crossroads of technology and artistic expression. Attendees will learn and how to make the most of these technologies during shooting and in post-production. Learn tips on taking better photos and making photos better in post-production. Dr. Sinno is chair of the communication department at Clarke University and established the PR/Advertising major there.
Letterpress – Danielle Chargo, Iron Leaf Press
Danielle Chargo, founder of Iron Leaf Press has turned her love for design and printing into a full-time passion. Starting with a reminder to do what you love, Iron Leaf has grown into a beautiful studio and a collection of gifts and paper goods. Danielle will share some tips and tricks for designing and executing letterpress projects. She’ll be bringing along a press for a rare hands-on chance to learn more about her beautiful craft.
Screen Printing – Tony Burnett, Red Ball Printing
Tony started screen printing as a hobby to generate a little extra income on the side, learning by watching a How-To DVD and a lot of trial and error. Through years of growth and learning, Tony has built Red Ball Printing into a local success. For this exclusive workshop Tony will be bringing his inks and press for an in depth look into “how to” and “how to design” for screen printing!
Power to the Prepress
In a Think to Ink first, don’t miss this discussion panel and presentation lead by a team of experts ranging from ink manufacturers, die makers, finishing houses, and of course, Cedar Graphics designers as they explore tips and tricks for successful file prep and provide live how-to’s / Q&A covering unique varnishes, stocks, folds, and maybe a few horror-stories.

Michael Braley has over 20 years of experience in identity, brand, print, visual systems, book and packaging design. His work has been recognized internationally and is in the permanent collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, The Denver Art Museum and the Museum fur Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg, Germany.
Clients have included Aéropostale, Alliance for American Manufacturing, AIGA, Civic Engagement Fund, Cornell University, Effen Vodka, The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, Future Partners, Genentech, Pando Populus, The People’s Music School, and Skadden.
His work has appeared in publications and exhibitions including: British Design and Art Direction, Cannes Design Lions, The Clio Awards, Moscow Global Biennale of Graphic Design, I.D., Graphis, Type Directors Club, Communication Arts, London International Awards, The Art Directors Club of New York, The One Show, The AR100 Show, AIGA, HOW and Print.
